Before he was Cliff Huxtable, legendary comedian Bill Cosby crafted another refreshingly intelligent and warmhearted television series with THE BILL COSBY SHOW, the comic's second television outing (after I SPY) and first sitcom. The series centered on gym teacher Chet Kincaid (Cosby) as he offered sometimes comical but always positive guidance to the students at an inner-city high school in Los Angeles. Though it lasted only two seasons, the late-'60s series offered realistic, character-driven plotlines that captured its era's black-consciousness zeitgeist and set the standard for Cosby's later sitcom offerings.
