With a six-season run that lasted from 1982 to 1988, ST. ELSEWHERE was a groundbreaking show in many ways, abandoning idealistic medical drama for a more realistic portrayal of an urban hospital. Set in St. Eligius Hospital in South Boston, the show follows a cast of caring doctors and nurses who do their best with what they have in this underfunded, dilapidated establishment.
