If your old tape-based answering machine is starting to show its age, Sony's TAM-100 is an all-digital model that provides 15 minutes of messages and has three mailboxes.Both your greeting and incoming messages are recorded on solid-state memory chips. The big advantage of digital recording over cassettes is that you can selectively play back and erase messages without having to wind through a whole tape.You can set up three separate message boxes for private storage of incoming messages. A voice time/day stamp is automatically appended to each message.The unit also offers variable-speed message playback, which lets you speed up or slow down messages without changing the pitch.
