Stephen King's classic vampire novel receives another television adaptation in the made-for-cable mini-series SALEM'S LOT. Rob Lowe assumes David Soul's 1979 starring role as Ben Mears, a writer who returns to his hometown of Jerusalem's Lot to research his new book and come to terms with a secret childhood trauma. But the Maine hamlet is also being visited by two new strangers--antiques merchant Richard Straker (Donald Sutherland) and his menacing companion Kurt Barlow (Rutger Hauer)--whose sinister dealings prompt Mears to investigate a rash of townsfolk disappearances with the help of his former grade school teacher Matt Burke (Andre Braugher), lovelorn small-town waitress Susan Norton (Samantha Mathis), and local parish priest Father Callahan (James Cromwell).
